Centre Cook - Ashburton

The Hive Ashburton is the first of its kind with state-of-the-art facilities being introduced in this purpose built, architecturally designed space. Our 99place centre offers the highest quality in Early Learning, Kindergarten and care for children from 6 weeks old to school-ready age operating 6:30am – 6:30pm Monday-Friday.

An exciting opportunity has now become available for a passionate cook to join our friendly team at The Hive Early Learning Centre in Ashburton.

Our focus is on healthy food and nutrition from an early age. A balanced, varied and nutritious diet with plenty of vegetable and fruit is vital for energy, brain function, growth and development.

All our menus are designed in consultation with nutritionists and assessed by Nutrition Australia to prepare balanced and tasty menus children will enjoy eating. Menu reviews are completed bi-annually by the Centre cook to ensure the menu represents the community.

Requirements for role:

Ideal for new starters. We can help you to acquire these:

  • Food Safety Supervisor + handling Certificate 
  • Working with Children Check (employee)
  • Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis training
  • Police Check
  • Cert 3 in child care will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge and understanding of cooking for children with allergies, medical conditions and varying dietary requirements
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Previous experience in a childcare setting will be an advantage but not necessary

Position Objectives:

  • To plan and provide nutritional balanced meals for all children
  • Preparation of meals, including but not limited to, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snack
  • To ensure food ordering is completed as required, one week in advance
  • To ensure Food Safety Plan requirements and documentation is maintained and up to date
  • Location: 470 Warrigal Rd, Ashburton VIC 3147: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
